DECÁLOGO PARA UM RETRATO

Tomou nas mãos o retrato de quem mais ama na vida, e olhando-o pronuncia como se estivesse falando com ela:

1. O que quero é prestar o serviço que posso e devo fazer agora, e se com ele fizer melhor uma única pessoa em mil, estarei contribuindo com a melhora do mundo.

2. Os seres humanos são da mesma conformação e tessitura dos livros, história e vida assentes pelo labor; suor, sangue e coração ofertados, mas na maioria das vezes só apreciados tarde demais.

3. Embora os leve dentro de minha exasperada ansiedade -  só  encontro meus heróis - ao tempo  de enaltecer os locais onde os procuro.

4. Se a todos ofende e agride o vozerio dos pregões dos cambistas, e alarido dos vendilhões do Templo, abra mão de teu silêncio omisso e aja expulsando-os sem covardia. Antes, Alguém já  fez sem nenhum temor.

5. A minha discordância em determinados pontos de vista, não diminui nem exclui meu amor e minha admiração por ti.

6. Não sendo mais crianças, sabemos que queixas, e lamentações, não acrescentam um só milésimo de simpatia de outros por nós.

7. Para um bom fracasso é viver querendo a certeza que conseguirá agradar a todo mundo.

8. Já se disse que o apreço em querer aumentar o conhecimento pelas artes é o sobretudo da inteligência.

9. O retrato é uma sondagem da alma, nossos indígenas achavam que as fotografias aprisionavam seus espíritos. Um poeta dizia que tinha mais saudade ao ver sua amada no retrato, do que quando ela real, dele estava ausente. É um registro para a eterna ausência.
